The NHL will take its annual New Year’s Day showcase from one storied ballpark to another.
The 2010 NHL Winter Classic will feature the Bruins hosting the Flyers from Boston’s Fenway Park. NBC will air the game at 1 PM on New Year’s Day. Flyers/Bruins will be the first regular season NHL telecast on NBC that did not feature the Rangers, Red Wings or Penguins since 2007.
In addition to the announcement of the Winter Classic, the NHL released the entire 2009-10 schedule on Wednesday. The season will begin on October 1 and end on April 11. Due to the 2010 Winter Olympics, the NHL will take a break from February 15-28.
