- ESPN has announced the first two sites of the season for its traveling college football studio show, College Gameday. Gameday will begin its 2009 campaign in Atlanta on September 5, site of a top 10 battle between Alabama and Virginia Tech. The next week, the show will travel to Columbus for what should be a high-profile battle between USC and Ohio State.
- ESPN will televise the first game of the season involving the Aplington-Parkersburg high school football team. The August 28 game will be the first since the murder of Aplington-Parkersburg head coach Ed Thomas earlier this year. Rece Davis, Herman Edwards and Chris Speilman will broadcast the game.
- ESPN Deportes has debuted its own SportsCenter ad campaign. The campaign, called “SportsCenter Makes You A Sports Expert,” features high profile Latin athletes like soccer player Lionel Messi and boxer Juan Manuel M?rquez “[presenting] themselves as overall ‘sports experts’ because they watch SportsCenter.”
