Two former NFL analysts are returning to the booth — for at least one day.
Joe Theismann and Joe Gibbs will serve as analysts for one of NBC’s NFL Wild Card games in January, reports USA Today. Theismann formerly worked for ESPN as an analyst on Sunday Night Football and, later, Monday Night Football. Meanwhile, Gibbs had a stint as a studio analyst for NBC during the 1990s.
The regular Sunday Night Football team of Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth will call the featured Wild Card game.
The addition of Theismann and Gibbs was necessitated by Collinsworth’s promotion to lead analyst. When John Madden was the lead Sunday night analyst, Collinsworth would call the second Wild Card game.
