Recent sports TV ratings news, including big numbers for Boise St./Virginia Tech in Oklahoma City, small numbers for regional MLB on FOX and even smaller numbers for the WNBA Playoffs on ABC.

  • Monday’s Boise State/Virginia Tech game drew a 10.2 rating in Oklahoma City, the highest rating of the week (August 31-September 6) for a sporting event in the market. The game even topped Saturday’s Washington State/Oklahoma State matchup on Fox Sports Oklahoma (8.4). (The Oklahoman)
  • Opposite college football, regional MLB action featuring Reds/Cardinals drew a mere 1.4 overnight rating on Saturday. Overnight ratings for last year’s comparable telecast were not immediately available. Saturday’s coverage aired directly opposite college football action on ABC (2.7), NBC (2.3), ESPN (1.8) and ESPN2 (0.6).
  • ABC drew a 0.6 overnight for Game 2 of the Storm/Mercury WNBA Western Conference Finals on Sunday afternoon, up a tick from the network’s last WNBA telecast — the 2009 WNBA All-Star Game (0.5). To put the numbers in perspective, ABC drew overnights of 0.6 and 0.5 for its two AVP volleyball telecasts this season. (Sports Business Daily)
