CBS Earns 5.2 Overnight For Alabama Loss

For the third straight week, overnight ratings topped 5.0 for the SEC on CBS.

Alabama’s loss to South Carolina, ending their reign as the #1 ranked team in the country, drew a 5.2 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon — up 73% from last year (MISS/ALA: 3.0), and up 117% from 2008 (UK/ALA: 2.4).

The 5.2 overnight is the second-highest of the season for college football on CBS, trailing a 5.4 for Alabama/Arkansas on September 25.

This is the third straight week that CBS has drawn at least a 5.0 overnight for college football coverage. In addition to the aforementioned Alabama/Arkansas game, last week’s Florida/Alabama blowout drew a 5.1 overnight.

Saturday’s telecast easily topped both college football games on ABC, neither of which drew even a 4.0 overnight.
