CBS Earns Solid Week 7 Numbers, But Trails Last Year

Sunday’s Week 7 NFL doubleheader put up good numbers on CBS, though both games were down from last year.

The Week 7 NFL national window, featuring Patriots/Chargers, drew a 15.1 overnight rating on CBS — down 8% from Week 7 last year (ATL/DAL*: 16.4, FOX), but up 3% from 2008 (IND/GB*: 14.7, CBS).

The 15.1 overnight is the second-highest of the season for the NFL on CBS, behind only the Week 2 national window (16.7).

Sunday’s telecast drew a lower overnight than Sunday Night Football on NBC (MIN/GB: 16.0), marking the first time all season that the national window has trailed SNF.

Earlier in the day, regional action featuring Steelers/Dolphins drew an 11.3 overnight — down 13% from last year (MIN/PIT*: 13.0, FOX), but up 43% from 2008 (SD/BUF*: 7.9, CBS).

The 11.3 is, by a slim margin, the highest overnight of the season for the first game of an NFL doubleheader (seven telecasts). The previous high came in Week 2 (MIA/MIN*: 11.2, CBS).
