SNF Draws Lowest Overnight Of Season, Still Up From Last Year

The absence of Michael Vick and the presence of the winless 49ers resulted in the season’s lowest overnight rating for Sunday Night Football.

The Eagles’ win over the 49ers drew an 11.7 overnight rating on NBC Sunday night, up 8% from Colts/Titans in Week 5 last year (10.8) and up 15% from Steelers/Jaguars in Week 5 two years ago (10.2).

The 11.7 overnight is the lowest of the season for an NFL telecast on NBC (six telecasts). None of the network’s other telecasts drew less than a 13.0.

Not surprisingly, Eagles/49ers easily outdrew the MLB Division Series, topping Phillies/Reds Game 3 on TBS by 200% (11.7 to 3.9). NBC says the telecast drew the second-highest overnight for any primetime NFL telecast during the Division Series since 2002.

Philadelphia led all markets with a 24.1 rating, with Las Vegas (21.5), Sacramento-Stockton (19.3), the Bay Area (19.0) and Norfolk, VA (18.5) rounding out the top five.
