A matchup of teams with mediocre records gave ESPN mediocre ratings Monday night.

Monday’s Broncos/Chargers game drew a 7.2 U.S. rating and 11.664 million viewers on ESPN, down 6% in ratings and 3% in viewership from Week 11 last year (TEN/HOU: 7.7, 12.078 mil), and down 4% and up 1%, respectively, from Week 11 in 2008 (CLE/BUF: 7.5, 11.565 mil).

Both the Broncos and Chargers were under .500 at the time of Monday’s meeting.

The Chargers’ win ranks as the second-lowest rated, second-least viewed Monday night game of the season, ahead of only Titans/Jaguars in October (6.2, 9.666 mil).

Additionally, this marks the fourth time in six weeks that Monday Night Football has had a decline in ratings and viewership compared to last year.

Through Week 11, ESPN is averaging a 9.0 U.S. rating and 14.455 million viewers for Monday Night Football, up 2% in ratings and 3% in viewership from last year (8.8, 14.018 mil).
