Pushed to the week after Championship Saturday for the second straight year, the Army/Navy game had a drop in overnight ratings Saturday afternoon — but still remained well above previous years.
CBS earned a 3.5 overnight rating for Navy’s win over Army Saturday afternoon, down 17% from last year’s game (NAVY/ARMY: 4.2), but up 46% from 2008 (NAVY/ARMY: 2.4).
Despite the drop, the 3.5 overnight is tied as the second-highest for the Army/Navy game since 2000 (3.8).
For some perspective, the Army/Navy game drew a 3.0 overnight or lower each year from 2004 to 2008.
Though the 3.5 is tied as the sixth-lowest of the season for college football on CBS (17 telecasts), it is significantly higher than the overnight for CBS’ other non-SEC matchup this season — Notre Dame/Navy on October 23 (2.1).
