Recent sports TV ratings news, including numbers for Heat/Wizards on NBA TV, the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship, and college basketball on ESPN and ESPN2.

  • The Heat’s win over the Wizards drew a 0.3 U.S. rating and 496,000 viewers on NBA TV Saturday night. For some perspective, that’s not much better than the 4 AM ET re-air of the New Orleans Bowl did on ESPN (455,000). That said, the numbers compare favorably to the NHL on Versus and live MLB games on MLB Network. NBA TV is in just under 55 million TV homes. (pifeedback.com)
  • The NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship between California and Penn State drew a 0.5 U.S. rating and 794,000 viewers on ESPN2 Saturday night. The game was the second-most viewed sporting event of the day on ESPN2, topping three college basketball games and the Premier League, and trailing only the NCAA Division II football championship game. Penn State’s win drew more viewers than the MLS Cup in November (0.4, 748,000), which aired on ESPN on a Sunday night. (pifeedback.com)
  • ESPN drew a 1.1 U.S. rating and 1.563 million viewers for USC/Kansas Saturday afternoon. Ratings for last year’s comparable Michigan/Kansas game were not immediately available. Elsewhere, ESPN2 drew a 0.5 and 715,000 for Arkansas/Texas A&M, a 0.3 and 505,000 for Gonzaga/Baylor, and a 0.4 and 557,000 for Alabama/Oklahoma State. (pifeedback.com)
