TNT earned its second-largest NBA overnight of the season with Thursday night’s Heat/Cavaliers game.
Miami’s 28-point win drew a 5.0 overnight rating on TNT Thursday night, up 257% from last year’s comparable game (BOS/SA: 1.4), and the second-highest overnight of the season for any NBA game.
The season’s top overnight was a 5.6 for Heat/Celtics on Opening Night.
Overnights peaked during the first fifteen minutes of the game (8:15-8:30 PM), at a 6.7. The TNT NBA pregame show (8-8:15 PM) earned a 5.9.
According to a Turner press release, the game drew a 14.9 rating in the Cleveland-Akron market, and a 25.4 in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale. Miami and Cleveland are similarly sized markets.
Based on earlier information from Turner, SMW originally reported that the game drew a 25.4 in Cleveland and a 14.9 in Miami.
Thursday’s game topped Texans/Eagles on NFL Network (4.1) by 22%.
In the nightcap, Suns/Warriors drew a 1.4 overnight, up 40% from last year (MIA/DEN: 1.0).
