Viewership increased by over a quarter for college football coverage on Versus during the 2010 season.
Versus averaged a 0.3 U.S. rating and 411,000 viewers for nineteen college football telecasts in 2010, according to Sports Business Daily, up 50% in ratings and 28% in viewership from last year.
The 28% rise in viewership was the largest for any of the six national networks carrying college football this season.
Despite the increase, Versus was easily the lowest rated, least-viewed college football broadcaster of the season.
Versus’ top game of the season was Oregon/California on November 13, which drew 1.909 million viewers. The game was not only a season-high, but drew the largest college football audience in Versus history.
For perspective, Versus averaged more viewers for college football coverage than for the 2009-10 NHL regular season (297,000) and the 2010 IndyCar season (366,000). Additionally, college football on Versus topped both the 2010 WNBA regular season on ESPN2 (258,000) and the 2010 MLS regular season on ESPN2 (249,000).
