The most-hyped game of the NFL’s Divisional Round scored massive numbers on CBS Sunday afternoon.
Sunday’s Jets/Patriots AFC Divisional Round game drew a 26.2 overnight rating on CBS, up 14% from last year (NYJ/SD: 23.1, CBS), and up 22% from 2008 (SD/PIT: 21.4, CBS).
This marks the highest overnight for any NFL Divisional Round game since the 1996-97 season (DAL/CAR: 28.5, FOX). The previous fourteen-year high was a 25.8 for Giants/Cowboys on FOX three seasons ago.
In addition, the 26.2 is the highest overnight for an AFC Divisional game since the 1994-95 season (MIA/SD: 26.8, NBC).
Overall, CBS has averaged a 21.9 overnight for three NFL postseason games through Sunday, up 7% from last year (20.4), and the highest average for the AFC rightsholder through this point of the postseason since 1994-95 (22.8, NBC).
