More Changes at Versus: Beninati Out, McGuire In

NBC continues to exert its influence over Comcast’s primary sports outlet, Versus.

Versus NHL play-by-play voice Joe Beninati will no longer call games for the network, according to multiple reports. Beninati will remain as the voice of the Capitals on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic.

Beninati had been the network’s #2 play-by-play voice, behind Mike Emrick.

The move is just the latest firing at Versus, which has lost president Jamie Davis and NHL reporter Bob Harwood, among others, since the Comcast/NBC deal became official last month.

Meanwhile, Yahoo! Sports reports NBC NHL reporter Pierre McGuire will join Versus effective Monday, when he will serve as an ‘inside-the-glass’ reporter for the net’s Rangers/Red Wings game.
