- Frank Chirkinian: Called the “father of golf television” by CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz, the former CBS Sports producer and director passed away on Friday at age 84. Chirkinian directed a wide variety of high profile sporting events for CBS, including the Olympic Games, but was best known for his work on the network’s coverage of The Masters. (New York Times)
- JP Dellacamera: The ESPN broadcaster has left the network to join Fox Soccer Channel. Dellacamera, who will work Friday nights Major League Soccer telecasts for the Fox Soccer Channel, will remain as play-by-play voice of the Philadelphia Union. (philly.com)
- John Buccigross: The ESPN SportsCenter anchor and former NHL 2Night host discussed ESPN’s coverage of the NHL in an interview with Puck the Media. Buccigross: “Part of kids not talking hockey is that is we at SportsCenter don’t celebrate and cover NHL players outside of [Sidney] Crosby and [Alex] Ovechkin. Kids get most of their sports from SportsCenter. … But, at some point it has to stop being SportsCenter’s fault.” (Puck the Media)
