Big Names: Fresh From a Weekend on CBS, Pitino Joins ESPN as Guest Analyst

Recent news involving sports media personalities, including Rick Pitino serving another guest analyst stint, Steve Sabol undergoing treatment for a brain tumor, and NBA TV’s Chris Webber, Brent Barry and Rick Fox filling in on TNT’s NBA studio coverage.

  • Rick Pitino: The Louisville head men’s basketball coach will serve as a guest analyst on various ESPN studio shows Thursday and Friday. Pitino spent the weekend as a guest analyst for CBS and Turner Sports’ coverage of the NCAA Tournament. (ESPN)
  • Steve Sabol: The president of NFL Films was diagnosed with a brain tumor last week, and is “expected to undergo radiation and chemotherapy treatment.” The diagnosis comes less than a month after Sabol was hospitalized for a seizure. (nfl.com)
  • Chris Webber, Brent Barry and Rick Fox: The NBA TV analysts will fill in for Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith on TNT NBA coverage over the next two weeks. Webber and Barry will join Ernie Johnson in the studio for Tuesday’s doubleheader, and Webber, Fox and Johnson will make up the studio team on March 31.
