A close win for the highest profile team in women’s basketball boosted ESPN to an eleven-year high in overnight ratings Sunday.
Connecticut’s comeback victory over Georgetown in the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen earned a 1.2 overnight rating on ESPN Sunday, according to the Stamford Advocate.
The 1.2 is the highest for any women’s NCAA Tournament game through the Sweet Sixteen since 2000.
Sunday’s game edged the previous high of 1.1, set on multiple occasions.
Despite the 11-year high, Sunday’s game did not even draw the highest overnight of the season for women’s college basketball. Connecticut’s loss to Stanford in December, which snapped their 90-game winning streak, drew a 1.5 overnight.
