Both NBA games on TNT Thursday night outdrew Major League Baseball’s Opening Night game.
TNT earned a 1.7 U.S. rating and 2.767 million viewers for the Celtics’ win over the Spurs Thursday night. Excluding Heat games, Celtics/Spurs ranks as the tenth-most viewed NBA game of the season on cable.
Thursday’s game outdrew ESPN’s Giants/Dodgers MLB Opening Night game head-to-head (1.5, 2.325M). For more details on the MLB numbers, click here.
Later in the night, the Lakers’ blowout win over the Mavericks earned a 1.9 and 2.958 million viewers. Again excluding Heat games, Mavericks/Lakers ranks as the sixth-most viewed game of the season on cable.
When Heat games are included, Thursday’s telecasts rank much lower. In particular, Celtics/Spurs ranks as the 23rd most-viewed game on cable, and Mavericks/Lakers ranks 14th. Fifteen of the 25 most-viewed games of the season on cable have involved the Heat.
