McHale Will Reportedly Leave TV For Rockets Coaching Gig

TNT and NBA TV analyst Kevin McHale is heading back to the NBA as coach of the Houston Rockets, according to multiple reports.

McHale agreed on Friday to a four-year deal to coach the NBA’s Rockets, according to the Houston Chronicle. The move marks his return to the NBA after serving as vice president of basketball operations for the Timberwolves from 1995 to 2009.

For the past two seasons, McHale was an NBA analyst for Turner Sports and NBA TV. Along with Chris Webber and Ernie Johnson, he was part of the studio team for NBA TV’s Fan Night broadcasts.

On TNT, he was an occasional guest on the network’s popular studio show, and also served as a game analyst on some regular season and early round playoff games.

McHale made his last appearance on TNT during the network’s coverage of Bulls/Heat Game 4 Tuesday night.
