The 2011 Gold Cup has been a success for the Univision family of networks, as viewership for the event has increased by more than a third compared to 2009.
Through Sunday (22 telecasts), coverage of the 2011 Gold Cup has averaged 1.671 million viewers on the Univision networks, up 35% from 2009.
The network scored a pair of solid audiences over the weekend. Saturday’s Mexico/Guatemala match drew 4.295 million viewers on Univision, and ranked as the night’s top program on broadcast television among adults 18-34, adults 18-49, men 18-34 and men 18-49.
Univision won the night on broadcast in all four demographics.
Saturday’s match was the most-viewed television program of the entire day in top ten television markets Los Angeles (#2), Dallas (#5), and Houston (#10).
On Sunday night, Panama/El Salvador drew 2.554 million viewers, the second-largest audience ever for a Gold Cup match on Univision that did not involve Mexico.
Sunday’s match was the most-viewed program in its time period (5:54-9:00 PM ET) in both Los Angeles and Houston.
Also on Univision, Sunday’s United States/Jamaica match drew 1.819 million viewers.
