Recent sports TV ratings news, including numbers for the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series on ESPN and the Cincinnati Bengals’ preseason opener.

  • Slight Drop For Delayed NASCAR Race: Rain delayed coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen from Watkins Glen drew 1.896 million viewers Monday morning, down 5% from 2009, the last time the race was postponed to Monday (1.994M). Last year’s race was run as scheduled and drew 4.932 million viewers. (ESPN)
  • Increase For Nationwide Series: On Saturday, the NASCAR Nationwide Series Zippo 200 at the Glen drew 1.913 million viewers on ESPN, up 1% from last year (1.913M), and up 9% from 2009 (1.756M). The increase comes on the heels of back-to-back declines for the U.S. Cellular 250 from Iowa (1.682M, down 7%) and the Kroger 200 from Indianapolis (2.059 million, down 13%). (ESPN)
  • Bengals’ Preseason Opener Down From Last Year: Friday’s Bengals/Lions NFL preseason game drew a 12.7 rating on Cincinnati CBS affiliate WKRC, down 50% from the team’s preseason opener last year in the nationally televised Hall of Fame Game (25.6). (cincinnati.com)
