NCAA Week 3: Huge Jump For LSU/Miss. State


Ratings and viewership more than doubled for Thursday’s game between LSU and Mississippi State.

ESPN earned a 4.1 U.S. rating and 6.250 million viewers for #3 LSU/#25 Mississippi State Thursday night, up 128% in ratings and 139% in viewership from Week 3 last year (CIN/NCSU: 1.8, 2.621M), and up 41% and 42%, respectively, from Week 3 in 2009 (GT/MIA: 2.9, 4.390M).

The game earned the fourth-largest cable audience of the week, behind both games of ESPN’s Week 1 Monday Night Football doubleheader and an episode of MTV’s Jersey Shore.

The next night, #4 Boise State/Toledo earned a 1.9 and 2.755 million viewers, up 27% in ratings and 21% in viewership from last year (KU/USM: 1.5, 2.269M), but down 10% and 11%, respectively, from 2009 (BSU/FRES: 2.1, 3.090M).

Over on ESPN2, Iowa State/Connecticut drew a 0.6 and 953,000 viewers.
