ESPN earned strong numbers for Monday’s battle of big-market NFC teams.
The Week 9 edition of Monday Night Football, pitting the Bears against the Eagles, earned an 11.7 overnight rating on ESPN — up 17% from Week 9 last year (PIT/CIN: 10.0), and up 9% from Week 9 in 2009 (PIT/DEN: 10.7).
The 11.7 is the second-highest overnight of the season for Monday Night Football, behind only Washington/Cowboys in Week 3 (11.9).
Three of the last four NFL telecasts on ESPN have had an increase in overnight ratings compared to last year. By comparison, overnights declined for five of the network’s first six telecasts this season.
