NFL Week 9: FOX Earns Second-Best NFL Overnight of Season

The first meeting between the Giants and Patriots since their classic Super Bowl clash earned big numbers for FOX.

The Week 9 NFL national window, featuring Giants/Patriots in 55% of markets, earned an 18.6 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon — up 9% from Week 9 last year (IND/PHI*: 17.1, CBS), and up 33% from Week 9 in 2009 (SD/NYG*: 14.0, CBS).

The 18.6 is the third-highest NFL overnight of the past four seasons (dating back to 2008), behind only this year’s Week 6 national window (DAL/NE*: 19.1, FOX) and the Week 13 national window in 2009 (NYG/DAL*: 18.9, FOX).

The Patriots have now been involved in the two highest rated NFL games of the season in the metered markets.

Overnight ratings for the first half of the FOX doubleheader, featuring Buccaneers/Saints in 41% of markets, were not available.
