ESPN’s First Sunday Night Baseball Game On Par With Last Year, Sets Local Record in Dallas

The season’s first edition of Sunday Night Baseball held steady in the overnight ratings on Sunday.

Sunday’s White Sox/Rangers Major League Baseball regular season game drew a 1.4 overnight rating on ESPN, flat compared to last year’s first Sunday night game (SF/LAD: 1.4, ESPN2), which aired opposite the Women’s Final Four.

The 2012 Major League Baseball season began one week later than last year. The game on the comparable date last year — Yankees/Red Sox — drew a 3.5 overnight.

Locally, Sunday’s game scored an 8.5 rating in Dallas-Ft. Worth, the market’s highest rating on record for a regular season MLB telecast on ESPN.
