Heat/Knicks Earns 3.3 Overnight Rating on ABC

Sunday’s clash between the Heat and Knicks scored good numbers on ABC, but considering the marquee names involved, better numbers could have been expected.

The Heat/Knicks NBA regular season game drew a 3.3 overnight rating on ABC Sunday afternoon. There were no regular season games on the comparable date last year.

While the 3.3 for Heat/Knicks would rank among the highest of the season in just about any other year, the overnight is tied as the fifth-lowest of the season on ABC (14 telecasts).

For some perspective, the teams’ most recent meeting this season — a primetime game on TNT just before the All-Star break — drew a 4.0 overnight.

Later Sunday, the Mavericks/Lakers game drew a 3.6 overnight, ABC’s highest NBA overnight since March 4.

Pretty good for the NBA again considering they had to go against MLB games and a high-rated NHL matchup this week.

The playoffs are going to reach some huge heights this year.
