The first Saturday night NASCAR race of the season had a very slight drop in overnight ratings compared to last year.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Samsung Mobile 500 from Texas earned a 3.6 overnight rating on Saturday night, down a tick from last year (3.7), but up 6% from the comparable Subway Fresh Fit 500 from Phoenix in 2010 (3.4).
The 3.6 overnight is the lowest ever for NASCAR’s spring Texas race. Keep in mind the race used to air on Sunday afternoon, a better window for television ratings than Saturday night.
So far this season, six of the eight NASCAR Sprint Cup telecasts on FOX have had a decline in overnight ratings compared to last year.
