The Masters: Second Round Action Draws Third-Best Golf Audience Ever on Cable

The second round of The Masters scored one of the largest audiences ever for golf on cable television.

ESPN averaged 4.1 million viewers for second round coverage of The Masters Friday afternoon, up 17% from last year (3.5M), and up 5% from 2010 (3.9M).

The 4.1 million viewers ranks as the largest audience ever for Friday coverage of The Masters, and the third-largest audience for a golf telecast on cable.

Only first round coverage of The Masters in 2010 (4.936M) and the Tiger Woods/Rocco Mediate U.S. Open playoff in 2008 (4.762M) drew more viewers.

Overall, ESPN’s coverage of The Masters averaged 3.4 million viewers on Thursday and Friday, up 13% from last year (3.0M).
