NBA Playoffs: Modest Increase For Pacers/Heat Game 5

TNT had a rare increase in viewership for the NBA Playoffs Tuesday night.

Game 5 of the Pacers/Heat second round NBA playoff series drew 5.503 million viewers on TNT Tuesday night, up 8% from Hawks/Bulls Game 5 last year (5.100M), but down 18% from Celtics/Cavaliers Game 5 in 2010 (6.737M).

Excluding Games 1 and 4 on broadcast network ABC, Tuesday’s game ranks as the most-viewed game of the Pacers/Heat series.

Of the 34 NBA playoff games on TNT that can be compared to last season, Game 5 was just the twelfth to have an increase. With that said, 24 of the 33 games that can be compared to 2010 have had increases.

Paulsen…have final rating #’s been released for game 4 of Miami Heat/Indy Pacers series on ABC? There was an article earlier this week that said the game garnered a 5.9 overnight rating, but I didn’t see any final #’s?

Final ratings for sporting events on broadcast typically take longer to be released than those on cable. I hope to have those numbers by the weekend.
