Euro 2012 Ratings Up 50% From 2008

Ratings and viewership soared for the Euro 2012 soccer tournament on ESPN.

The complete Euro 2012 tournament averaged a 0.9 U.S. rating and 1.300 million viewers on ESPN and ESPN2, up 50% in ratings and 51% in viewership from coverage on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC in 2008 (0.6, 859K).

New York (2.1) led all markets for the tournament, with Miami-Ft. Lauderdale (2.0), Providence, RI (1.7), Los Angeles (1.5), and the Bay Area (1.4) rounding out the top five.

Spanish-language coverage of the tournament on ESPN Deportes averaged 324,000 viewers. ESPN Deportes aired four fewer matches than ESPN/ESPN2.

During the knockout stage (quarterfinals, semifinals and final), six of the seven matches on ESPN/ESPN2 had increases compared to 2008, and five of the seven were up double-digits.
