Golf Update: Woods’ Win Gives AT&T National Best-Ever Rating

The AT&T National surged to a record-high Sunday thanks to Tiger Woods‘ victory.

Final round coverage of the PGA Tour AT&T National drew a 4.4 final rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 193% from last year (1.5), and up 144% from 2010 (1.8).

The 4.4 is the highest ever for the final round of the AT&T National (dates back to 2007), topping the previous high of 4.2 for Woods’ win in 2009.

Sunday’s final round also ranks as the second-highest rated PGA Tour telecast of the season, excluding majors. Only final round coverage of the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in February (4.9) earned better numbers.

So far this season, 15 of the 23 PGA Tour tournaments on broadcast television have had a double-digit increase in ratings for final round coverage.

On Saturday, third round coverage drew a 2.2 final rating — up 100% from last year (1.1), and up 69% from 2010 (1.3).
