Overnight ratings held steady for Saturday’s afternoon Major League Baseball coverage on FOX. In other news, the PGA John Deere Classic had a double-digit rise for final round coverage, and the Kansas City Royals have had a ratings surge as well.

  • Overnights Flat For Afternoon MLB Action on FOX: Regional Major League Baseball action featuring Mets/Braves in 46% of markets drew a 2.1 overnight rating on FOX Saturday afternoon, even with coverage featuring Braves/Phillies in week fifteen of last season (2.1), and down a tick from coverage featuring Rays/Yankees in week fifteen of the 2010 season (2.2). Not surprisingly, the telecast drew a lower overnight than each of the eight preceding primetime windows on the network. (Sports Business Daily)
  • Double-Digit Rise For Final Round of John Deere Classic: Final round coverage of the PGA Tour John Deere Classic drew a 2.1 overnight rating on CBS Sunday afternoon, up 24% from last year (1.7), and up 62% from 2010 (1.3). Third round action on Saturday drew a 1.1, even with both last year and 2010 (1.1). (Sports Business Daily)
  • Royals Ratings Up Double-Digits: Kansas City Royals telecasts averaged a 4.1 rating on Fox Sports Kansas City through Sunday, up 19% from last year. Friday’s White Sox/Royals game drew a 5.5 rating, the third-highest of the season. (kansascity.com)

This might be of interest but NBCSN set its record for MLS telecasts. It had been averaging 101k for its first 16 telecasts, however, it hit 256,000 for its telecast of the LA-Portland 5-3 shootout that featured two brilliant goals by David Beckham.
