On a night when ABC and FOX also aired Top 25 matchups, the Michigan/Notre Dame rivalry attracted the highest overnight.
Saturday’s Michigan/Notre Dame college football game drew a 4.0 overnight rating on NBC, up 48% from NBC’s second Notre Dame telecast last year (vs. Michigan State: 2.7), but down 11% from the second telecast in 2010 (vs. Michigan: 4.5).
The 4.0 overnight was the highest of the day for college football on any network, topping Clemson/Florida State on ABC (3.2) and Kansas State/Oklahoma on FOX (1.7) head-to-head.
With that said, the 4.0 is also tied as the lowest for the Michigan/Notre Dame rivalry since the 2007 game on ABC (2.7). Last year’s meeting between the rivals — also in primetime — earned a 4.8 overnight on ESPN.
