A top-ten matchup of high-profile SEC teams gave CBS strong numbers on Saturday.
The season’s fourth edition of the “SEC on CBS,” pitting #10 Florida against #4 LSU, earned a 4.7 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon — up 42% from the same matchup last year (3.3), but down 10% from Alabama/South Carolina in 2010 (5.2).
The 4.7 overnight is tied as the highest college football overnight of the season, matching Michigan/Alabama on ABC in Week 1.
Competing afternoon coverage on ABC (1.9) and FOX (1.0) did not come close to LSU/Florida.
Earlier Saturday, non-SEC action between Navy and Air Force drew a 1.2 overnight, down 12% from the same matchup on the network in week five of last season (1.4).
