NCAA Week 9: Georgia/Florida Overnight Rating Up Big on CBS

It was not the top game of the week, but Saturday’s clash between Florida and Georgia earned strong numbers on CBS.

The Florida/Georgia college football game earned a 4.6 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, up 28% from the same matchup last year (3.6), and up 31% from the same matchup in 2010 (3.5).

The 4.6 is the highest for the Florida/Georgia rivalry game since 2009 (4.8).

Saturday’s game ranks as the fourth-highest rated of the season in the metered markets, trailing only LSU/Florida on CBS in week six (4.7), Michigan/Alabama on ABC in week one (4.7) and Notre Dame/Oklahoma on ABC Saturday night (5.9).

Head-to-head, Georgia/Florida crushed regional action on ABC (2.6) and Texas Tech/Kansas State on FOX (1.3).

* Note: A CBS Sports press release had Saturday’s game earning a 4.7 overnight. However, both the Houston Chronicle and Sports Business Daily reported that Saturday’s game drew a 4.6.
