Due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy, the much-hyped regular season home debut of the Brooklyn Nets has been postponed.
The NBA has postponed Thursday’s Knicks/Nets NBA regular season game. The game, the first home regular season game for the New Jersey Nets since the team moved to Brooklyn, was to air at 7 PM ET on TNT.
Instead, TNT will televise two hours of “The Mentalist” and a half-hour pregame show. The network will still air Thunder/Spurs at 9:30 PM ET.
The Nets’ opener was slated to be one of the highest-profile games of the regular season. TNT originally planned to send the NBA studio team of Ernie Johnson Jr., Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley to the game, and TNT NBA play-by-play voice Marv Albert — who was scheduled to call the game — even wrote a piece in The New York Times in advance of the Nets’ Brooklyn debut.
