The Texans’ second Sunday night appearance of the season earned good enough numbers for NBC.
The Week 10 edition of “Sunday Night Football,” pitting the 7-1 Texans against the 7-1 Bears, earned a 13.7 overnight rating on NBC — down 6% from Patriots/Jets last year (14.5), and down 4% from Patriots/Steelers in 2010 (14.2).
The 13.7 overnight is the lowest for “SNF” in Week 10 of the season since 2008, when Giants/Eagles drew a 12.4.
Of course, it should be pointed out that the Week 10 “SNF” in each of the past three years featured the Patriots taking on a heated rival — the Jets last year, the Steelers in 2010, and the Colts in 2009.
The game did outperform the Texans’ debut Sunday night appearance, a Week 6 game against the Packers (12.6). That game aired opposite Game 1 of the MLB National League Championship Series (4.7).
