NFL Week 12: Early Blowout Leads to Decline For Washington/Dallas

With the game uncompetitive until the fourth quarter, the Cowboys’ battle against rival Washington sank in the overnights Thursday.

The Week 12 Washington/Dallas NFL regular season game drew a 14.5 overnight rating on FOX Thanksgiving Day, down 5% from Dolphins/Cowboys on CBS last year (15.3), and down 1% from Saints/Cowboys on FOX in 2010 (14.7).

The 14.5 overnight is the lowest for a Thanksgiving Day game on CBS or FOX since 2009. Still, the 14.5 is the sixth-highest overnight for an NFL game on Thanksgiving since 1998.

Washington/Dallas was outdrawn by Texans/Lions on CBS earlier in the day, marking the third straight year that the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day game earned a lower overnight than the Lions’ game.

I knew the Texans/Lions game would be the highest of the day  but I was expecting worse from the Cowboys game but this game is actually up from previous years.

The NFL audience has clearly grown to a new level since 2010.
