TV Ratings: Week 13 College Football Finals on ABC, ESPN (Also: NBA on ESPN)


The Florida/Florida State rivalry earned big numbers on ABC. In other news, Clemson/South Carolina led the way on ESPN, and the network’s NBA regular season coverage has dropped double-digits so far this season.

  • UF/FSU Up on ABC: Last Saturday’s Florida/Florida State college football game drew a 5.1 final rating and 8.5 million viewers on ABC, up 82% in ratings and 87% in viewership from regional coverage last year (2.8, 4.5M), and up 46% and 44%, respectively, from regional action in 2010 (3.5, 5.9M).   • Clemson/S. Car Tops Week on ESPN: Last week’s Clemson/South Carolina college football game drew a 1.7 U.S. rating and 3.0 million viewers on ESPN, the network’s top college football telecast of the holiday weekend. Earlier in the day, Oklahoma State/Oklahoma drew a 1.5 and 2.3 million, and Georgia/Georgia Tech earned a 1.4 and 2.3 million. The weekend’s top game on ESPN2 was Wisconsin/Penn State (1.2, 2.0M), and the leader on ESPNU was Mississippi/Mississippi State (0.3, 0.5M). (Son of the Bronx)
  • NBA on ESPN Down Thus Far: ESPN has averaged 1.9 million viewers for NBA regular season coverage this season (does not include Friday’s Nuggets/Lakers game), down 11% from the comparable point of the 2010-11 season (2.1M). Keep in mind the network’s first few telecasts this season were affected in major markets by the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. (ESPN)
