With a (presumably) large national audience tuning in Friday night, Fox Sports showed off a new innovation that may become commonplace in sports television.

As is almost always the case, CBS lagged behind FOX and NBC during the 2012 NFL season.

Despite a strong match-up on paper, Thursday’s Fiesta Bowl earned mediocre numbers on ESPN.

Hint: The NFL and the Olympics dominate the list.

Last year’s NBA finalists are leading the way in local television ratings this season.
