Overnight Ratings Mixed For Aussie Open Finals

Despite moving from ESPN2 to ESPN, the overnight ratings were still minuscule for the middle-of-the-night Australian Open singles finals.

The Novak Djokovic/Andy Murray Australian Open men’s final drew a 0.5 overnight rating on ESPN Sunday morning, down a tick from Djokovic/Rafael Nadal on ESPN2 last year (0.6).

Keep in mind last year’s telecast lasted nearly two hours longer, ending at the fairly reasonable time of 9:45 AM ET.

On Saturday, the Victoria Azarenka/Li Na women’s final also earned a 0.5 — actually up 67% from Azarenka/Maria Sharapova last year (0.3).

This year marked the first time since 2004 that ESPN carried the Australian Open finals.
