Ray Lewis to Join ESPN As NFL Analyst, SI Reports

Baltimore Ravens MLB Ray Lewis will join ESPN next season, Sports Illustrated reported Thursday.

Lewis, who announced Wednesday that he intends to retire at the end of the NFL season, is reportedly nearing a multi-year agreement with ESPN. Under the deal, Lewis would appear on “Monday Night Countdown” and assorted other ESPN studio programs.

The agreement will not be announced until after the Ravens’ season concludes.

According to the report, Lewis met with other networks during the NFL season. The deciding factor was apparently his desire to attend his son’s college football games on Saturdays, a scheduling requirement that made him an “unlikely fit for a full-time role on the Sunday morning shows aired by CBS or Fox” (SI.com, 1/3).
