TV Ratings: Big Jump For Nets on YES (Also: UConn/Stanford, The Golf Channel)


Local television ratings have surged for the Brooklyn Nets, but the team still trails the Knicks. In other news, last week’s clash between undefeated Connecticut and Stanford did well enough for ESPNU, and The Golf Channel set a viewership record in 2012.

  • Nets Up Big, Still Trail Knicks: Through Wednesday, Brooklyn Nets regular season NBA games have averaged a 1.0 rating on YES Network in the New York market (27 telecasts), up 150% when compared to last year’s full 64-game average (0.4). The Nets’ 1.0 average is still just a fraction of what the Knicks have averaged on MSG Network this season (3.5). (YES Network, MSG)
  • UConn/Stanford Earns Best ESPNU Audience Since Nov.: Last Saturday’s Connecticut/Stanford women’s college basketball game drew a 0.3 U.S. rating and 420,000 viewers on ESPNU, the top audience on the network since the November 24 Mississippi State/Mississippi college football game (502K). Keep in mind that does not include Tuesday’s Heart of Dallas Bowl. Later that night, a men’s game between Connecticut and Washington drew a 0.3 and 372,000 viewers on ESPN2.   • Golf Channel Has Best Year Ever: The Golf Channel averaged 95,000 viewers per day in 2012, up 6% from 2011 (90K), up 36% from 2010 (70K), and the highest yearly average ever for the 18-year old network. Seven months set viewership records during the year. (NBC Universal Media Village)
