TV Ratings: UFC Edges Figure Skating Saturday, But Both Decline (Also: College Hoops)

Overnight ratings declined slightly for the latest edition of the UFC on FOX. In other news, the U.S. Figure Skating Championship suffered declines on NBC, while CBS had mixed numbers for college basketball.

  • Latest UFC on FOX Telecast Down: The sixth edition of the “UFC on FOX” drew a 2.6 overnight rating on FOX Saturday night, down a tick from “UFC on FOX 2″ on the comparable date last year (2.7), and down 7% from the network’s most recent UFC telecast in December (2.8). Saturday’s telecast barely edged NBC’s coverage of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships (2.5). (Weekend numbers from Sports Business Daily)
  • Another Drop For U.S. Figure Skating Championships: NBC earned a 2.5 overnight rating for primetime coverage of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships Saturday night, down 7% from last year (2.7), down a tick from 2011 (2.6), and the lowest for primetime coverage of the event since NBC took over the rights in 2008. Earlier in the day, coverage drew a 1.6 overnight — up a tick from last year (1.5) and even with 2011.   • Mixed Numbers For College Hoops on CBS: Saturday’s Maryland/Duke men’s college basketball game drew a 1.3 overnight rating on CBS, up 63% from Texas/Baylor last year (0.8), and up 18% from regional action in 2011 (1.1). On Sunday, Michigan State/Indiana earned a 1.5 — down 12% from Michigan/Ohio State last year (1.7), and down a tick from Duke/St. John’s in 2011 (1.6). (Weekend numbers from Sports Business Daily)
