- Double-Digit Rise For NHL on NBC: Sunday’s Penguins/Capitals NHL regular season game earned a 1.2 overnight rating on NBC, up 20% from the same matchup in 2011 (1.0). There was no comparable game last year. Already this season, NBC had a 45% increase in overnights for Flyers/Sabres on January 20 and earned an indoor-record 2.0 overnight for regional coverage on January 19. - Slight Bump For College Hoops on CBS: CBS earned a 1.2 overnight for Saturday’s Miami/North Carolina State men’s college basketball game, up a tick from regional action in an earlier timeslot both last year and in 2011 (1.1). (Weekend numbers from Sports Business Daily)
- Friday’s NBA Games Down Double-Digits on ESPN: Friday’s Lakers/Timberwolves NBA regular season game drew 2.0 million viewers on ESPN, down 20% from Lakers/Nuggets in a later timeslot last year (2.5M), but up 2% from Celtics/Suns in 2011 (2.0M).
