Kept off of TNT in favor of the Knicks and Celtics, the Miami Heat attracted record TV ratings on Sun Sports Tuesday night.
Game 2 of the Bucks/Heat first round NBA playoff series drew a 15.6 rating on Sun Sports in the Miami-Ft. Lauderdale market Tuesday night, the highest rating ever for a Heat game on the network. The previous high was a 12.2 for a Heat/Celtics regular season game in March.
Bucks/Heat Game 2 was available only on Sun Sports in the Miami market, as the NBA TV telecast of the game was blacked out. Game 1 of the series on Sunday night actually drew a higher rating locally — a combined 18.9 on Sun Sports (9.52) and TNT (9.36).
In other action Tuesday, Game 2 of the Celtics/Knicks series drew just under 3.4 million viewers on TNT — up 9% from Sixers/Bulls Game 2 last year (3.1M), but down 29% from Knicks/Celtics Game 2 in 2011 (4.7M).
Warriors/Nuggets Game 2 later in the night scored 2.9 million, down 27% from Nuggets/Lakers Game 2 last year (3.9M), and down 25% from Blazers/Mavericks Game 2 in 2011 (3.8M).
National viewership for the Bucks/Heat game on NBA TV was not immediately available.
