TV Ratings: Cubs, White Sox, Struggling in Chicago (Also: K.C. Royals, PGA on CBS)

The Cubs and White Sox combined cannot compete with the Blackhawks — or even the Derrick Rose-less Bulls. In other news, the Royals earned another strong rating in Kansas City, and the PGA Tour St. Jude Classic had a slight increase in overnight ratings.

Cubs, White Sox, Weak in Chicago

  • Chicago Cubs regular season games have averaged a 1.7 rating on Comcast SportsNet Chicago so far this season, down 15% from the comparable point last year, and even with the network’s full 2012 average. Meanwhile, White Sox games have averaged a 1.3 — down 24% from last year. The Cubs and White Sox combined trail both the Bulls (3.2) and Blackhawks (5.4) regular season averages. Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup run + Bulls in the Playoffs + losing baseball teams = lower ratings for Cubs & White Sox. Casual fans want to watch a winner.
