The Kansas City Royals set another new ratings record on Fox Sports Kansas City. In other news, MLB on FOX fell below a 2.0 rating for the 13th time in 17 tries, and primetime soccer on FOX was an even bigger bust.
- The Royals continue to light up the ratings in Kansas City. Thursday’s Red Sox/Royals Major League Baseball game earned an 11.4 rating on Fox Sports Kansas City, the highest rating ever for a Royals game on the network. The previous high was a 10.2 for Twins/Royals just three nights earlier. The five highest Royals games ever on FSKC have taken place within the past week. (royals.mlb.com)
- Regional MLB action featuring Rangers/Athletics earned a 1.6 final rating and just under 2.4 million viewers on FOX last Saturday, flat in ratings and down 3% in viewership from coverage featuring Cubs/Cardinals in 2011 (1.6, 2.4M). There was no telecast last year due to the Olympics. So far this season, 13 of 17 MLB telecasts on FOX have failed to draw at least a 2.0 rating. (Nielsen)
- Later Saturday, FOX drew a 0.5 final rating and 990,000 viewers for the Real Madrid/Everton International Champions Cup semifinal — not terrible for soccer, but likely one of the lowest ratings ever for a primetime program on the Big Four broadcast networks. (Nielsen)
