Months after his final game on FOX, Tim McCarver has found a new role. In other news, the recently retired Tony Gonzalez has been in talks with CBS Sports, and NBC will use separate broadcast teams for live and taped Olympic figure skating coverage.

McCarver to Call Cardinals Games Next Season

  • The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported late Thursday that former “MLB on FOX” lead analyst Tim McCarver is close to a deal with Fox Sports Midwest to call St. Louis Cardinals games. Gonzalez, CBS, in Talks For “NFL Today”

  • Retiring NFL TE Tony Gonzalez has been in talks to join “The NFL Today” on CBS, The Big Lead reported earlier this week. According to the report, Gonzalez is “wrestling with the idea” of traveling from Los Angeles to CBS’ New York studios each week. (The Big Lead)

NBC to Use Separate Broadcast Teams For Live, Taped, Skating

  • NBC Sports will use two different broadcast teams for live and taped Olympic figure skating coverage. Calling the live action on NBC Sports Network will be Terry Gannon with newcomers Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski.
