TV Ratings: Heat Up 22% on Sun Sports (Also: N.Y. Rangers, EPL on NBC)

Local television ratings have risen double-digits for the Miami Heat. In other news, the New York Rangers earned their second-best rating on MSG in over a decade, and NBC Sports Network drew the second-largest audience ever for the EPL on cable.

Heat Local TV Ratings Up Double-Digits

  • Miami Heat regular season NBA games have averaged a 6.9 rating on Sun Sports this season, up 22% from the comparable point last year. Tuesday’s Celtics/Heat game was the third-highest rated of the season on Sun Sports, with a 9.1 rating. (Nielsen)

Rangers Earn Second-Best Local Rating Since ’02-03

  • MSG Network earned a 2.0 rating for Tuesday’s Islanders/Rangers game, the network’s second-best rating for a Rangers telecast since the 2002-03 season. Including the Islanders version of the telecast on MSG Plus, the game drew a 2.6 rating. (Nielsen)

NBCSN Scores Second-Best EPL Audience Ever on Cable

  • Sunday’s Chelsea/Manchester United English Premier League match drew 1.0 million viewers on NBCSN, the second-largest audience ever for a Premiere League match on U.S. cable. The only match to earn a larger audience was Manchester United/Mancester City on ESPN in 2012 (1.03M to 1.02M). In its first season televising matches, NBCSN has now televised five of the six most-viewed EPL telecasts ever on cable. (NBC Sports Group Press Box)
